The rich history of Gevorkian Winery

Gevorkian Winery may not have been around for extremely long, but this Armenian winery still has a rich history. Gevorkian Winery specializes in the development of wines with a traditional quality. Characteristic for Gevorkian Winery is the creation and development of new and modern production techniques. In its short existence, several prizes and awards have been won. The ‘365’ wines are a good example of this. The result: Gevorkian Winery has gained a lot of fame and several wines have become real bestsellers.

In addition, Gevorkian Winery is also known for its bond with the wine lover. Recently a new wine was produced, but a suitable name was still missing. That is why the enthusiasts were asked to come up with a suitable name. On various social media, people had a chance to come up with a name for the wine and the best or most appropriate name was chosen. More than 1000 enthusiasts responded and in the end the name ‘Garoun’ won. This is the Armenian translation of the word ‘spring’. Meanwhile, more than 30,000 wine bottles bear the name of the creator and his signature.

Perfect climate conditions

Armenia is a small country with a rich wine history. Grapes are originally found in the Armenian highlands. The mountainous regions and the Ararat valley have always been an extremely suitable territory for the production of grapes and wine. Important factors in the wine climate include the sun and the volcanic soil. In the Gevorkian Winery region, the sun usually shines for 300 days a year, which improves the quality of the grapes.

The unique flavors

The winemakers of Gevorkian Winery have a lot of knowledge and therefore the smell and taste quality is preserved. The climatic factors have a lot of influence on the taste of the grapes. Because the sun shines on average 300 days a year, the grape is often slightly sweeter. An example of this is the ‘Garoun White’. It is made from 100% Kangun grapes. This makes the wine very light and smooth. Perfect to serve as an aperitif, but also very tasty in combination with cold snacks or a seafood salad. Our ‘Garoun Red’ goes well with cheese, grilled meat or a barbecue. The 100% Haghtanak grapes provide strong, fruity aromas. The other wines of Gevorkian Winery are also characterized by the fruity scents and flavors. For more information about the taste of our wines, please see the specific product pages.
