The story of Quinta do Piloto begins in 1900 with Humberto da Silva Cardoso, a visionary entrepreneur who sought his fortune in Brazil and returned shortly thereafter to Palmela. Through his marriage to Adelaide Carvalho Cardoso, daughter of a prominent winemaking family, he laid the foundation for a long-lasting involvement in viticulture in the region.

Humberto Cardoso invested in vineyards and built two wineries: first Quinta do Piloto, and later Adega da Serra. With these investments, he created a solid foundation for a family legacy that now spans four generations.

The vineyards of Quinta do Piloto stretch across hundreds of hectares and consist of carefully maintained old vines.
