Gašper Wines

Gašper Wines is a renowned Slovenian winery, located in the picturesque Goriška Brda, a unique wine region that stretches from Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy into Slovenia. The winery is a collaboration between a local cooperative and the Čarman family, led by Gašper Čarman, a passionate winemaker with over 50 years of experience in hospitality and wine production. Thanks to his vision and craftsmanship, Gašper Wines is known for its refined wines that perfectly reflect the distinctive terroir of Goriška Brda.

Gašper Čarman

Gašper Čarman is an influential wine producer and entrepreneur from Slovenia. With decades of experience in the hospitality and wine sectors, he combines traditional winemaking methods with modern, innovative techniques. His philosophy is simple: to create wines that let the essence of the terroir speak, with a fresh, elegant style that is appreciated both nationally and internationally. Under his leadership, Gašper Wines has gained international recognition, with award-winning wines such as the Cabernet Franc, which won a Platinum Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Gašper Čarman is not only involved in vinification but also in every step of the process, from vineyard management to harvest and grape selection. His hands-on approach ensures that every wine perfectly reflects the quality and character of the estate.

Vineyards and Terroir

The vineyards of Gašper Wines cover 1,100 hectares and are maintained by 250 dedicated members of the cooperative. The vineyards are situated on terraced hills at an altitude of 80 to 200 meters above sea level, with ‘opoka’ clay soils rich in minerals. This terroir imparts a pronounced minerality, freshness, and elegance to the wines.

Thanks to their location between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps, the winery benefits from an ideal climate: warm, dry summers and cooling breezes during grape ripening. All grapes are hand-harvested by cooperative partners, family members, and friends, ensuring a careful selection of the finest bunches.

The Wine Range

Under the guidance of Gašper Čarman and oenologist Darinko Ribolica, Gašper Wines produces a broad range of wines:

White Wines

  • Chardonnay/Rebula blend: fresh and fruity, with notes of peach and citrus.
  • Pinot Grigio: aromatic, with hints of pear and white blossoms, and a refreshing grapefruit palate.
  • Malvazija (Malvasia Istriana): tropical fruit with subtle almond notes, elegant and rich in character.

Red Wines

  • Cabernet Franc 100%: from 50-year-old vines, eight days of maceration, and 18 months aging in oak and stainless-steel barrels. Aromas of red cherries and blackberries, soft tannins, and a subtle spicy oak touch. Winner of the Platinum Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Rebula Selection

  • produced only in the finest years, elegant with excellent fruit weight and well-integrated oak notes. The latest vintage won a Silver Medal at DWWA 2023.
