Van Ardi
Ashtarak is one of the oldest wine regions in the world. It is no coincidence that Van Ardi winery (founded in 2005) started growing vines in this area. This resulted in the first homegrown wines in 2013. They now have a wide range of wines based on different grape varieties in the range. As a well-known winery, Drinkrituals was able to lag behind and imported the best wines from Van Ardi. Curious about these beautiful wines? From Ardi: Armenian quality wines
It is not surprising that Van Ardi harvests a high quality grape year after year. The Ashtarak region is known for the volcanic rock that forms fertile soil. In addition, the height of the vineyards (about 1000 meters above sea level) and the amount of sun (more than 250 sunny days per year) are decisive when growing different grape varieties. Wijnhuis Van Ardi knows how to interweave the authentic Armenian wine tradition with a modern company that pours exclusive wines.
The wines of winery Van Ardi
In terms of wine, Van Ardi works with both native and Western grape varieties. For the time being, the unique, native Armenian grape varieties Areni, Kakhet, Haghtanak and Kangoun are the main seasonings and most commonly used grape varieties. To grow these grape varieties, Van Ardi first had an extensive soil analysis carried out and looked for the most optimal place to grow the grapes. You will certainly taste the terroir (origin). In addition to white and red wines, you will also find Van Ardi rosé wines in our range, a delicious rosé that goes well with summer evenings and light dishes.
New winemakers
Although wine has been produced in Armenia and the rest of the Caucasus for thousands of years, wines from this region are still quite unknown in the rest of the world. A shame, because the wines are certainly no less than their Italian or French counterparts. The Armenian wines therefore deserve to be tasted and appreciated. Van Ardi has taken a new path in this and combines their tradition and unique terroir with 21st century wine production techniques. The family also transfers the unique wine-growing traditions to new generations, so that wine lovers can continue to enjoy these Armenian top wines in the future.
