A Vineyard with Character
At the heart of Sopho’s Winery lies their carefully tended vineyard in Mukuzani, a region renowned for its ideal climate and fertile terroir. Yvo and Sofia have developed their vineyard with great dedication, transforming the traditional Georgian winery into a charming space where history and modern craftsmanship come together. Their wine cellar, equipped with traditional qvevris (large clay vessels), reflects their deep respect for the centuries-old Georgian winemaking tradition.

From Stainless Steel to Qvevri
In its early production years, Sopho’s Winery experimented with winemaking in stainless steel tanks, carefully following traditional vinification methods. Soon, however, the desire grew to fully embrace authentic Georgian wine traditions. This led to the installation of qvevris, allowing them to start producing their distinctive Rkatsiteli Qvevri and Saperavi Qvevri wines. These wines bring out the full, unique flavor of the grapes and reflect the rich culture and terroir of Kakheti.
Award-Winning Quality
The craftsmanship of Sopho’s Winery has not gone unnoticed. At the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) in Georgia, they received no fewer than four bronze medals for their second vintage. They were also recognized at the prestigious Wine Expo in Tbilisi with three medals and a special sommelier award. These honors confirm that Sopho’s Winery produces wines that rank among the best, both in Georgia and internationally.
