Buy Lebanese red wine
If you are orienting towards Lebanese red wine, you may notice that mostly French grape varieties are used in the wine. That may sound crazy, but there is a logical explanation behind it. At the beginning of the last century, Lebanon was a French protectorate. During this period, the French have planted many of their own native grape varieties, and these thrive in the fertile Bekaa Valley. Many French are still active in Lebanese viticulture. French grape varieties that Lebanese red wine producers mainly use are: Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carignan and Alicante Bouschet. An indigenous grape variety used to make red wine is the Zawtarani grape.
Features Lebanese red wine
Lebanon is no stranger to wine production. According to historians, it is certain that Lebanon was an important wine region around the beginning of the era. This makes the country one of the oldest wine countries in the world. The Lebanese red wine vineyards are located on the slopes of the Bekaa Valley at an altitude of about 1,000 meters. In fact, it is the ideal place to produce wine, because it is dry, but there is enough rain, and the sun in combination with the cooling of the Mediterranean Sea ensure an optimal climate. Moreover, it can cool well at night, which only benefits the ripening of the blue grapes. Lebanese red wines are known for their excellent quality and beautiful blends.
Taste and enjoy!
Want to try something completely different? A Lebanese red wine will not disappoint.
