Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar 2016

Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar is a remarkable red wine from the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, a wine region with an ancient tradition and ideal conditions for producing high-quality wines. The wine is crafted from a classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, and Cinsault — three grape varieties that together create power, depth, and elegance. After harvesting, the wine matures for twelve months in oak barrels, followed by a minimum of three years of bottle aging in the cellar. This process allows the wine to develop its rich, complex character, making it perfectly ready to drink upon purchase. With an alcohol content of 14%, this bold Lebanese wine is a true recommendation for genuine wine enthusiasts — regarded by many as one of the great wines of the world.

Flavor Character Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar

The Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar is a special red wine with a clear red-brown tint and a matured, spicy aroma with nuances of leather, candied red fruit and oak. The taste starts full and powerful and ends smoothly and long. Thanks to firm tannin’s, the wine can be stored for years to come. The wine can be served wonderfully with the spicy Lebanese cuisine: tabbouleh, lamb and hummus. Please serve at 16-18 degrees. Cheers!

Description

Producer

Chateau Musar is by far the most famous wine producer in Lebanon and probably in the entire Middle East. The driving force behind this domain is the Hochar family, whose patras familias Serge Hochar, who died in 2014, has worked persistently in the last century. The domain is located north of the Lebanese capital Beirut. During 20 years of civil war, it was Serge Hochar who continued to produce wines year after year, even as bullets flew across the vineyard. His style is comparable to Bordeaux, but in very warm harvest years. The Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar  is of course also one of his works of art.
