Since ancient times, the most beautiful vines of Armenia have been found here, growing on the fertile mountain on the border with Turkey and Armenia. Armenian wines are made from the classic grape varieties such as merlot or chardonnay as well as from indigenous grape varieties. Original Armenian grape varieties are the areni noir, khindogni, charents, the kakhet and the hagtanak.
