Buy exclusive wines

In the Netherlands, Armenian wines are not well known at all. And that is a shame. Since, according to experts, this country is the oldest wine-producing country in the world. Known for its exclusive wines, the mountains in Armenia and neighboring Georgia are the perfect place. Mostly thanks to the surrounding volcanic mountains, including Mount Ararat. The mineral-rich soil forms the perfect soil for growing vines, which produces wines with a special character. Would you also like to try an exclusive wine from Armenia? Which can. Drinkrituals imports both red and white exclusive wines.

Exclusive red wines

When it comes to exclusive red wines, our Armenian toppers are in the right place. One of the distinctive red grape varieties from Armenia is the Areni. A type of grape that can withstand harsh winters extremely well. The Areni really belongs in the harsh climate that prevails during the winter months in the countries in and around the Caucasus. It is not without reason that Areni means “blood” in Armenian. That says a lot about the temperament of the people in this country. And that produces exclusive red wines. In addition to the Areni, there is a choice of over thirty other types of grapes that are suitable for viticulture. Other well-known red grape varieties are:

  • Kakhet: Armenian red grape that is often used for dessert wines. It can also be found in dry rosé and dry red wines.
  • Hakhtanak: The blue grapes of the Hakhtanak are suitable for beautiful, full body red wines. They are therefore often used for this, although the Hakhtanak can also be used for sweet or sparkling red wines.

Exclusive white wines

White wines also come in different shapes and sizes. Including the famous exclusive Armenian white wines. Because white wine tastes better with fish or lighter dishes, the exclusive white wine from our range goes well with a salad, Mediterranean or summer dish. The white wines from the range are carefully selected for you. Well-known white grape varieties are:

  • Garan dmak: Also called “fat tail” in Armenian. The bunch of grapes of the Garan dmak looks like the tail of a lamb. This white grape does well in colder climates and is used for table wines and brandies, among other things.
  • Kangun: Well-known grape variety for Armenian brandies and fortified sweet wines.
  • Voskehat: Finally the Voskehat. A fruity grape variety that is the basis for many blends and light white wines. The famous orange wines from Armenia are also often made on the basis of the Voskehat.
    Combine wine and food

What could be better than enjoying a nice glass of Armenian or Georgian wine with a matching dish? Drinkrituals developed an extensive wine-food combination especially for this purpose, in which the perfect dishes are selected with the right wine. Such a combination is done on the basis of personal preferences, but also prior knowledge of grape varieties, origin and characteristics of a wine type. Are you curious about this wine-food combination? You can find them per wine type on our website. You can also contact us if you have any questions. Moreover, we are happy to provide you with personal wine advice.
