Voskeni Wines

Voskeni Wines is a warm, family-run business nestled in picturesque Sardarapat, in the enchanting Ararat Valley of Armenia. The story of Voskeni Wines is deeply rooted in the rich history of Smbat Matevossian, a nobleman who returned from the United States to Armenia in the 1920s to fulfill his dream: creating exceptional Armenian wines. Although historical events deprived him of his possessions and ultimately his life, his descendants reclaimed the vineyards nearly a century later and have carried forward his vision with unwavering passion.

Today, thanks to dedication and craftsmanship, Voskeni Wines produces wines of the highest quality, surrounded by idyllic vineyards, a charming house-restaurant, and a terrace offering breathtaking views of the majestic Mount Ararat. Family forms the beating heart of the business; everything they do is a tribute to their ancestor’s dream and to the timeless tradition of Armenian winemaking.

Tradition and Innovation in Winemaking

At Voskeni Wines, a dedicated family business unites centuries-old winemaking traditions with modern techniques. Every family member plays a vital role in the creation process, with collaboration at its heart – as the saying goes: “Teamwork makes the dream work.” Driven by a constant desire to experiment, they strive to fully express the unique flavors of their grapes and the character of their terroir.

The wines are crafted according to authentic Armenian methods, including aging in Karas (amphorae), ensuring that each bottle tells a story of history and heritage while simultaneously showcasing contemporary finesse.

Vineyards

Armavir – Sardarapat
Located in the heart of the Ararat Valley, these vineyards benefit from an intense climate with extreme temperature fluctuations ranging from -15°C to 40°C. At an altitude of 950–1050 meters, the grapes thrive in sandy, stony volcanic soils rich in minerals and limestone. This unique soil structure imparts the grapes with their characteristic acidity and refined complexity.

Vayots Dzor – Aghavnadzor
In one of Armenia’s oldest wine-producing regions, high in the mountains at 1450–1600 meters, grapes are grown using the traditional Bush vine method. With roots reaching depths of 20–25 meters to access water and minerals, the grapes develop into robust, refined specimens of exceptional quality. The unique mountain climate and mineral-rich soil make each harvest a masterpiece.
