Greek red wines from this region have a deep red color. That is why Nemea wines with this grape are also called “Hercules blood”. The grape varieties for Greek red wine
The Agiorgitiko grape may be the most famous variety from Greece, but of course the country is not limited to this native variety. Other red grape varieties that are typically Greek are Liatiko, Kotsifali, Mavrodaphne, Xynómavro, Limnio and Mandelaria. The Greeks are also not afraid to blend their native varieties with well-known international red grape varieties such as the Syrah grape. By experimenting with new combinations, various quality wines have already been created in which the taste of Greece can be tasted well. You can drink Greek red wines with pasta or tapas.
