Dessertwine

Besides white, red or rosé wine, there is also dessert wine. This wine, which often has a sweet taste, is often drunk as the end of a dinner or informal dinner. It is not uncommon for the dessert wine to be served in combination with a cheese platter or a dessert containing chocolate. And that combination is not surprising. Buy dessert wine

Dessert wines come in all kinds of variants, flavors and types. The most famous type of dessert wines is port (both red, rosé and white) and muscat wine. Sherries also officially fall under the aforementioned dessert wine, but are sometimes also classified as strong drinks. Dessert wines almost all have a certain similarity, namely that they are sweet in taste and have fruity aromas. However, that doesn’t mean a dessert wine is the same as a sweet wine (like a white wine). However, due to the sugar content in the dessert wine, some varieties can even be a bit “syrupy” and thicker.

Our special wines

Drinkrituals has a diverse range of dessert wines from wine countries, such as Armenia and Georgia, which are relatively unknown to Western Europe. We would like to introduce you to these special wines that are often distinctive in their own way. The use of fruits is characteristic of dessert wines from the regions around the Caucasus. In our collection you will find surprising types of wine such as quince wine or wine based on pomegranate and blackberries. A sweet, unique choice that is sure to surprise your guests!

Dessert tips for wine

We already mentioned it above, but especially savory desserts such as a cheese platter, but also chocolate go well with the, usually, sweet wines. Yet you do not necessarily have to drink this wine with a dessert. It also works well as a fine wine with a drink. However, it is not advisable to drink this sweet wine in combination with a main or starter, as most varieties are quite “heavy” in themselves. Don’t like an overly sweet wine with dessert? No problem! There are also wines that are drier and fresher. Just like there are sparkling (carbonated) wines that are suitable to drink with a dessert.
