Vinoplod Jakov Prošek 2019

Are you a dessert wine enthusiast looking for something unique? Discover Vinoplod Jakov Prošek, hailing from the picturesque region of Šibenik in Northern Dalmatia, an area renowned for its stunning coastline and rich wine tradition. The climate and soil of this region are ideal for cultivating high-quality grapes, contributing to the exceptional quality of this wine. Vinoplod Jakov Prošek is made from a unique blend of three indigenous white grape varieties: Debit, Maraština, and Trbljan. These grapes are carefully selected, each contributing their own characteristic flavors to the wine. To produce this dessert wine, the traditional passito method is used. The grapes are harvested late in the season and then dried on straw mats. This process concentrates the sugars and flavors in the grapes. For the production of Jakov Prošek, concentrated (reduced) must is fermented, resulting in a stable, high-quality wine. This wine has an alcohol content of 14.5%. Order today and enjoy!

Description

Jakov, Prosek or Prosecco?

The Prošek is the most famous dessert wine of Croatian territory. Of course it resembles an Italian Prosecco in its name, but there are no characteristics similarities. Prosecco is a sparkling wine. After Croatia’s accession to the EU, it was decided that the wine may no longer be called Prošek and the name of the dessert wine was changed to Jakov.

Prošek is made according to the pasito method and can be compared with the Italian dessert wine Vino Santo. The grapes are picked late in the harvest period. They then dry on straw mats before being made into wine. Given the high residual sugars in the wine, it can be kept for at least one to two years after opening.

About the winery

The Vinoplod winery was founded in 1959 in the Dalmatia wine region. The soil on which the grapes grow is poor in nutrients, which means that there is little annual yield. Sometimes there is only 500 grams per vine yield, but it is a very special yield given the ecological viticulture and production.
Vinoplod produces wines from native grapes such as Babić, Debit, Maraština, Merlot, Plavina and Trbljan.

In addition to wine, Vinoplod produces spirits and liqueurs such as liqueurs, brandy, vodka and gin.
