Description
Wine House
Vaziani was established in 1982 and underwent a modern transformation in 2012. The factory was restructured with state-of-the-art Italian equipment and reservoirs made of non-corrosive metal. This is a unique company with a closed production process, commencing with grape selection and concluding with the creation of a final product that fully complies with the international standards ISO22000:2018. The production of qvevri wines by the Makashvili winery has a strong connection to the family of Prince Makashvili. Today, the company founded by the descendants of this family produces qvevri wines that meet the strictest standards for connoisseurs and discerning wine enthusiasts, leading to the highest accolades for these wines in numerous prestigious international competitions.
The traditional qvevri winemaking method is over 8000 years old and is still in use; Vaziani Winery is a worthy representative of this rich cultural and historical tradition. The Makashvili Wine Cellar, owned by Vaziani, has its origins in the Makashvili estate from the second half of the 15th century. In the cellar, there are qvevri vessels that are over 120 years old, discovered underground at the Vaziani Winery during the 2012 reconstruction. Out of approximately 200 found qvevri vessels, only 39 could be salvaged from damage. The wines are carefully crafted using the traditional qvevri winemaking method in centuries-old qvevri vessels and are produced in limited quantities, earning global recognition.
