Koncho and Company LLC, founded on September 18, 2001, by JSC Corporation Kindzmarauli, is a wine producer with a deep-rooted history. The company is dedicated to creating and selling the highest quality wines. The name “Koncho” is derived from the ancient Georgian word for “cross,” which also serves as the origin of the surname Konchoshvili. This family has an age-old tradition in wine production, tracing back to 1737. At that time, Kakhaber Konchoshvili, the royal winemaker for King Teimuraz II of Kakheti, established a wine cellar that specialized in the production of traditional Kakhetian wines and chacha, a Georgian brandy. The family’s wine cellar operated until the end of the 20th century, first in the village of Sabue and later in Kvareli. The establishment of Koncho and Company LLC marks a continuation of this rich tradition, with a strong focus on preserving authentic Georgian wine culture and offering high-quality wines to a global audience. The company boasts some of the finest vineyards in the classical/traditional microzones of Kindzmarauli and Kvareli. These vineyards are located on plots where the Duruji River once flowed, making the soil particularly fertile due to the presence of black slate and a high concentration of carbonates at a depth of 8-10 meters below the surface. This unique soil composition gives the wines of Koncho and Company a distinctive character that sets them apart from all others.
