Koncho and Company LLC is a renowned winery rooted in a rich and centuries-old tradition. Founded on September 18, 2001, by JSC Corporation Kindzmarauli, the company’s heritage is deeply intertwined with Georgia’s winemaking history. The name “Koncho” derives from an ancient Georgian word meaning “cross,” honoring the Konchoshvili family, who have been engaged in winemaking since 1737. The legend traces back to Kakhaber Konchoshvili, who served as a royal winemaker for King Teimuraz II of Kakheti. He established a wine cellar specializing in traditional Kakhetian wines and chacha, a type of Georgian brandy. This cellar remained active until the late 20th century, first located in the village of Sabue, and later in Kvareli.
With the founding of Koncho and Company LLC, this rich tradition is carried forward. The winery emphasizes preserving authentic Georgian winemaking techniques and boasts premium vineyards in the traditional micro-regions of Kindzmarauli and Kvareli. These vineyards were carefully selected for their fertile soils, formed over time by the Duruji River. The unique soil composition, consisting of black slate with a high concentration of carbonates at a depth of 8 to 10 meters, imparts the wines of Koncho and Company with their distinctive flavor and character. As a result, the winery’s wines are beloved not only locally but also globally by connoisseurs of fine Georgian wines.
