Château Musar Gaston Hochar Blanc 2016

Château Musar Gaston Hochar Blanc is a cask-aged white wine made from the indigenous varieties Obaideh (related to Chardonnay) and Merwah (related to Semillon) grown by Château Musar in the Bekaa Valley (Lebanon). In the winery, the grapes ferment in barrels made with oak wood from the Nevers forest and rest for 9 months. Once the wine is ready, it is bottled and stored in the cellar, usually released for sale 6 to 7 years after harvest. Musar Blanc is an intense and complex white wine with an alcohol content of 12% that is perfect for people who like mature wines with good bottle aging.

Château Musar Gaston Hochar Blanc 2016 is a full yellow dry white wine with a special aroma of yellow fruit, flowers and matured, slightly oxidative and spicy nuances. The taste is full, round and ends with soft, mild acidity. The finish is fragrant and matured. Serve this wine with pronounced fish dishes or with pasta dishes with fragrant mushrooms. Please serve at 15°C.

Winery

Founder Gaston Hochar started this special company in the early 1930s in Ghazir, on the other side of Beirut. Over time, modern wine cellars were added, which regularly had to serve as air raid shelters. His children and grandchildren continue Gaston’s work. In particular, his now deceased son Serge has put Chateau Musar on the map worldwide and has given Lebanese viticulture a major boost with its intense, long-lived wines. Château Musar Gaston Hochar Blanc 2016 is another one of the winery’s many creations.
