Zorah Yeraz 2017

Zorah Yeraz, a name translated from Armenian meaning “dream,” encapsulates Zora’s boundless ambition and artistic vision. “Yeraz,” the centerpiece of Zorah’s collection, is a masterpiece born from countless visions. This extraordinary red wine, hailing from the picturesque Vayots Dzor, is produced with unparalleled dedication in highly limited, almost artisanal quantities. Hand-harvested grapes of the indigenous Armenian Areni Noir undergo a refined vinification process under Zora’s expertise. Fermentation takes place in raw, temperature-controlled concrete tanks using only natural yeasts, while aging occurs in traditional amphorae of various sizes for nearly 24 months, with brief periods in large, untoasted barrels to soften tannins. Further aging takes place for 12 months in bottles. With a modest alcohol content of 13.5%, this wine offers a balanced blend of power and finesse. Let your taste buds embark on a transcendental journey to the majestic hills of Armenia, discovering the depth of Vayots Dzor in every glass. Raise your glass to the good life with Zorah Yeraz!

Flavor character Zorah Yeraz

The deep red hue of the wine reflects the intensity of the Armenian sun. Zorah Yeraz exhibits aromas of ripe red cherries, black fruits, and pepper, with subtle hints of cedarwood. On the palate, it reveals intensity and complexity derived from the old vines. Medium-bodied with balanced acidity, this wine possesses fine, well-integrated tannins from the oak aging process. This wine makes for the perfect companion to grilled red meat, hearty cheeses, or a  decadent chocolate dessert. To fully appreciate the wine’s splendor, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius.

Description

Winery

Armenian wine brand Zorah has garnered significant attention in the wine industry. It all began when Zorik Gharibian visited Armenia many years ago. Zorik’s ancestors hailed from Armenia, and upon his first visit to his “homeland,” the winemaker in him quickly recognized the potential of the land to produce rich and flavorful wines. Armenia’s soil, climate, and other natural resources convinced Zorik to acquire a vineyard and introduce the country to traditional winemaking styles. More than a decade since the inception of the Zorah Wine brand in Armenia, Zorik takes pride in the fact that his wines are considered among the best in the world. The deep, historic vineyards of Zorah Wines embody a profound and unique culture reflected in the grapes cultivated here. Situated at elevations between 1400 and 1600 meters above sea level, these vineyards lie at the foot of the majestic Biblical Mount Ararat. You’ll find these vineyards in Armenia’s premium wine region, Vayots Dzor.
