Description
The Wine House
Voskevaz is a renowned winery nestled in the breathtaking Aragotsotn region, at the foot of the majestic Mount Aragats in Armenia. At Voskevaz, the focus is on crafting extraordinary wines that reflect the rich history and unique terroir of this area. The vineyards are situated in an enchanting location known as the “golden forest,” translating to the name Voskevaz. For centuries, grapes have been cultivated in this ancient spot, where explorations have even uncovered remnants of old clay amphorae, known as karases. These vessels were historically used for winemaking and were found amidst the ruins of a 7th-century church, conveniently located next to the winery.
A new chapter for Voskevaz began in 2004 when David Hovhannisyan, a passionate Armenian entrepreneur, decided to revive and rejuvenate his birthplace. Returning to Armenia after years abroad, David, along with his brothers Gago and Armen, pooled their efforts and made substantial investments in Voskevaz with the goal of restoring the winery’s former glory. At Voskevaz, they blend traditional winemaking methods with modern techniques to produce wines of unparalleled quality. Dedicated winemakers meticulously select the finest grapes from surrounding vineyards and bring them to life in their state-of-the-art facilities. The result is an impressive collection of wines that beautifully capture the unique characteristics of the Aragotsotn region.
