Winery
Voskevaz Winery, established in 1932, holds a significant place as Armenia’s oldest winery, carrying a storied history. During the Soviet era, Voskevaz gained renown for its fortified wines, but faced challenges and decline in the 1990s. Fortunately, in 2004, Voskevaz was privatized and underwent complete modernization, reclaiming its position as a prominent winery. Voskevaz Winery is renowned for its modern wines made from indigenous Armenian grape varieties. Under the guidance of a young Russian winemaker who honed his skills in Spain, Voskevaz strives to create wines that reflect the unique characteristics of Armenia’s terroir. Utilizing modern techniques and expertise, they produce exquisite wines that seduce the senses and pamper the taste buds.
Following in the footsteps of its neighboring country, Georgia, Voskevaz Winery has recently embraced the tradition of producing ‘orange wines.’ These wines are made using an ancient method, where the grapes are fermented in ‘karas,’ large clay pots buried in the winery’s cellars. This traditional technique imparts a distinctive flavor and texture to the wines, allowing wine enthusiasts to experience the authentic wine culture of Armenia. The winery successfully combines modern wine production techniques with a deep respect for the historical wines it has produced in the past. This legacy of craftsmanship and quality continues to be upheld in every glass of Voskevaz wine.
