Producer

Although thirty-one-year-old Jakub Smrčka does not come from a winemaking family, he has been close to wine since childhood. He studied viticulture and viticulture at the horticultural faculty of Mendel University and worked as head of production in one of the largest wineries in the Czech Republic. Every year 3.5 million liters of wine passed through his hands. He develops the wine and himself, so he is not afraid to experiment now and then. When producing wine, the winery tries to preserve traditional procedures while refining the wine with 21st century technologies.

Especially for the higher ranks, Jakub Smrčka set a rule: every year should be a little better than the last. This is also why the Union of Winemakers is awarding him one of the most important awards in 2021: he was named oenologist of the year.
