Papari Valley 3 Terraces Saperavi 2019

The 3 Terraces Saperavi from Papari Valley is a powerful natural wine from Georgia, originating from the renowned Kakheti region. Made from 100% Saperavi grapes, a variety that is so typical of Georgia, this wine is known for its deep color and intense flavor. The grapes are carefully handpicked and fermented whole, including skins, stems, and seeds, in the traditional qvevri. This fermentation method, which has been used in Georgia for centuries, contributes to the wine’s complex and robust flavor. After fermentation, the wine matures for eight months in the qvevri, resulting in a wine with an earthy, layered structure. With an alcohol content of 16%, the wine has a powerful character but maintains balance through its rich flavors and firm tannins. For lovers of natural wines and traditional winemaking techniques, this is a true discovery.

Description

Winery

Papari Valley is a small-scale winery in Georgia, run by the Kurdadze family. Here, natural wines are made according to ancient Georgian traditions, with the wines aging in qvevris – large clay amphorae buried in the ground. The first wines were produced in 2006, but it wasn’t until 2015 that the family considered them good enough to release to the market. Quality is always a priority at Papari Valley, and it shows in the taste: their wines are among the absolute best within Georgian natural wines.
