Papari Valley 3 Terraces Rkatsiteli 2019

The Papari Valley 3 Terraces Rkatsiteli is an exceptional natural wine from the historic region of Kakheti in Georgia, a place considered the cradle of winemaking. This wine is made from 100% Rkatsiteli grapes, an ancient and robust variety that has been cultivated in this region for millennia. What makes this wine unique is the traditional winemaking method. The fermentation and aging process takes place in qvevris: large, handmade clay amphorae that are partially buried underground. The grapes, including stems, seeds, and skins, are placed in these vessels, resulting in a more intense flavor and deeper structure. The outcome is a pure, honest natural wine that clearly reflects its origin and terroir. With an alcohol content of 14%, this wine offers a full, layered tasting experience.

Flavor character Papari Valley 3 Terraces Rksatsiteli

Papari Valley 3 Terraces Rkatsiteli is an orange wine with an intense amber hue, characteristic of traditional qvevri production. The nose reveals refined aromas of dried leaves, nuts, and a hint of tamarind. The taste is a fascinating blend of fresh tamarind tanginess, sweet dates, and a subtle apple flavor, complemented by a light bitterness reminiscent of green tea. The wine is crystal clear, silky smooth, and has a refined structure that lingers on the palate. Thanks to its lively acidity and rich flavor dimensions, this natural wine is an excellent companion for various dishes. It pairs perfectly with grilled fish, such as sea bass or dorade, but also with chicken dishes, like roasted chicken with Mediterranean herbs. The wine is also a great choice with spicy Asian dishes, such as Thai curry or Sichuan cuisine, where it beautifully balances the flavors. It also forms a harmonious combination with roasted vegetables, like pumpkin, carrots, and eggplant. Finally, this wine is surprisingly delicious with soft cheeses, such as creamy goat cheese or mild blue cheese. For the best result, it is recommended to serve the wine at 14°C so that the complex aromas can fully unfold.

In the enchanting region of Georgia, where tradition and craftsmanship go hand in hand, lies Papari Valley, a family estate run by the Kurdadze family. Here, natural wines are made using ancient methods, with the aging process taking place in qvevri, large clay amphorae buried deep in the ground. The first wine production began in 2006, but it was not until 2015 that the family deemed their wines of sufficient quality to bring to market. Thanks to their dedication and precision, the wines of Papari Valley have since established themselves as some of the best natural wines in Georgia.
