Medea Teran 2021
The Medea Teran is an award-winning gastronomic red wine from the Croatian wine region of Istria. This wine is made from the Teran grape with careful manual picking in September. Vinification takes place in stainless steel vinifiers under strictly controlled conditions, with fermentation and maceration occurring for seven days at temperatures of 20-22 °C. After fermentation, the wine ages for four months on the lees (sur lie method) in stainless steel tanks, followed by one month of bottle aging for optimal development. Medea Teran is characterized by a beautiful purple-red color and a seductive aroma of raspberries, blueberries, and currants, with subtle notes of pepper, bay leaf, and licorice. About the winery
Medea is located in the Croatian village of Vodnjan and originated from the cooperative Agroprodukt Vodnjan. The Floricić family took over the company from the government and turned it into a successful winery. Today, Medea is one of the largest wine producers in Istria.
Thanks to the rich red soil, excellent grape varieties grow here. The Istarska Malvazija is the main grape variety in this wine region for the production of white wines. For the red wine Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Teran (in the Italian Friuli area this grape variety is called Refosco) is grown.
