Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 25 Years

The Kujira 25 Years Old is an exceptional Japanese whisky from Okinawa, the southernmost island of Japan. This exclusive Ryukyu whisky is produced by the renowned Kumesen Distillery, where centuries of craftsmanship meet the unique subtropical climate. The name Kujira – Japanese for “whale” – symbolizes strength, elegance, and depth, qualities perfectly embodied in this remarkable 25-year-old whisky. What sets the Kujira 25 Years Old apart from other Japanese whiskies is its use of Indica rice instead of barley, the traditional base for Ryukyu whisky. After distillation, the whisky is aged for over 25 years in carefully selected sherry casks, bourbon barrels, and white oak barrels. The warm and humid climate of Okinawa accelerates the maturation process compared to cooler regions, resulting in a rich, deep, and complex flavor profile. The selection and blending are overseen by Master Blender Naoshi Arakaki, who ensures precision, balance, and elegance in every bottle.

The Kujira 25 Years Old is bottled at 43% alcohol, a perfectly chosen strength that enhances the whisky’s refinement and complexity without compromising its subtlety. This makes the whisky powerful yet accessible and harmonious. It comes in an elegant, exclusive packaging, making it the perfect luxury gift for any whisky enthusiast.

Description

Producer

Kumesen Shuzo, founded in 1952, is a leading Japanese distillery from Okinawa that initially gained recognition for producing Awamori, a traditional distilled spirit made from Indica rice, unique to the Ryukyu Islands. In 1989, Kumesen took a groundbreaking step by aging Awamori in oak barrels, leading to the creation of an entirely new whisky category: Ryukyu Whisky. This innovative style is distinguished by the use of rice instead of barley or corn, resulting in a smooth, complex flavor with tropical influences.
