Masahiro Distillery was founded in 1883 by Shobun Higa, the son of Shozoku Higa, who served as the royal chef at the court of the Ryukyu Kingdom. This made the distillery one of the oldest and most renowned producers in Okinawa. Thanks to the Higa family’s connections and influence, Masahiro was granted an official license early on to produce Awamori, Okinawa’s traditional rice spirit. Since then, the distillery has come to symbolize authentic craftsmanship, with a deeply rooted passion for quality and the art of flavor.
