About the Karas winery
In 2002, Karas Wines was founded by the Ernikyan Family, who decided to invest in Armenian viticulture and breathe new life into it in the place of its origin. They discovered the perfect location for their vineyards in the Armavir region, in proximity to the sacred Mount Ararat. To realize their project and produce modern wines, the winery entered into a collaboration agreement with the Argentine winemaker Gabriel Rogel from Mendoza and the renowned wine consultant Michel Rolland.
Karas Wines is deeply committed to environmental sustainability and employs a holistic organic approach to ensure the health of their vineyards, free from chemical additives. Thanks to the unique terroir of Armavir, situated at an elevation of 1,100 meters above sea level, featuring fertile volcanic soil and the distinct Armenian climate with approximately 360 sunny days per year, they are able to produce outstanding wines with impressive structure.
