Description

Winery

In the heart of Armenia, under the gaze of the majestic Mount Ararat, a dynamic and innovative winery is emerging: Karas Wines. This ambitious venture has taken bold steps to innovate in a land steeped in ancient winemaking traditions. Although Armenia is one of the world’s oldest wine-producing regions, it lacked the expertise needed to craft modern wines—until Karas Wines changed the landscape. The company’s turning point came with the arrival of a skilled Argentine winemaker from Mendoza, specifically brought in to revolutionize their wine production. They also sought the expertise of Michel Roland, a globally acclaimed wine consultant. With these experts and a forward-thinking approach, Karas Wines initiated a new era in Armenian winemaking.

Established in 2003, Karas Wines began by carefully selecting prime locations for their vineyards, located near Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, at the foot of the magnificent Mount Ararat. Here, they found fertile volcanic soil and ideal altitudes ranging from 400 to 1100 meters, perfect for growing grapes of exceptional quality. Driven by a deep passion for producing outstanding wines, Karas Wines aims to create products that honor Armenia’s rich history while catering to contemporary tastes. Their vineyards, bathed in abundant sunlight and enriched by volcanic soil, produce grapes of unparalleled quality, reflecting the unique character of Armenian terroir.
