About the makers
Domaine Uby is located at the foot of the Pyrenees in the Côtes de Gascogne wine region. A favorable terroir for the cultivation of high-quality grapes with beautiful green and hilly area, moderate climate, sandstone and clay soils. This produces ripe grapes that also retain sufficient fresh acidity. The approximately 18 ha vineyard of Domaine Uby is completely organic and is located near a beautiful lake. Thanks to the sustainable viticulture of the winery, the nature reserve that surrounds it has been preserved. Domaine Uby contributes to the protection of the extremely rare European pond terrapin, which lives in that nature reserve and has its breeding ground in and around the lake.
The terrapin can therefore be found in the logo and on the wine labels of Domaine Uby.
The winery was founded around 1920 by the Morel family, who moved from Switzerland to France. Initially, simple white grape varieties were grown in this area, intended for the production of Armagnac. Thanks to the impeccable sense of winemaking, combined with the latest techniques and fully organic wine production, the winery has made a huge leap forward in the last 10 years.
