Dakishvili Family Selection Kisi 2022

The Dakishvili Family Selection Kisi is an exceptional amber wine from the iconic Kakheti region in eastern Georgia, an area worldwide renowned for its ancient winemaking tradition. This region, a center of wine production for millennia, provides the perfect conditions for the Kisi grape. This native grape variety yields a wine characterized by a deep flavor and an impressive aromatic profile. The grapes for this special wine come from historic vineyards in the Akhmeta region, planted in the 1930s by Giorgi Dakishvili’s great-grandfather. The soil of the vineyards consists of well-draining clay soils, which give the wine a unique complexity and depth.

After harvest, the grapes are fermented in the traditional manner in Qvevri, large clay fermentation pots that have been an integral part of Georgian winemaking for centuries. The fermentation process in these pots ensures prolonged contact with the skins, which not only imparts the amber color to the wine but also contributes to its rich and robust flavors. After six months of aging in the Qvevri, the wine develops a deep taste and a full texture that perfectly expresses the qualities of the Kisi grape. With an alcohol content of 13%, this wine offers a beautiful balance without being too heavy, making it an excellent pairing for a variety of dishes.

This wine is a tribute to Georgia’s rich traditions and offers an unforgettable experience for those seeking an authentic and refined taste. Place your order today and discover it for yourself!

Taste Character Dakishvili Family Selection Kisi Qvevri

With its striking copper-golden hue, the Dakishvili Family Selection Kisi is an amber wine that immediately catches the eye. Upon pouring, a complex aroma emerges, with dried apricot, almond, and a hint of sweet spices beautifully blending together. The flavor profile is rich and refined, with fresh citrus from orange peel, a touch of apricot, and the bold papaya that gives the Kisi grape its unique character. The wine finishes with a subtle, honey-like aftertaste that completes the tasting experience. This wine pairs wonderfully with a wide range of dishes, from grilled lamb and steak to a refined cheese selection. It also pairs perfectly with umami-rich dishes, such as sushi or smoked fish, where the flavors enhance each other. For the best result, it’s recommended to serve the wine between 10-12°C, allowing all the aromas and flavors to fully shine.

Here, the art of winemaking is practiced with passion and dedication by the Dakishvili family, who hold craftsmanship and respect for nature in the highest regard.

Dakishvili is known for its small-scale production, bottling only 50,000 bottles annually, divided into exclusive batches ranging from 500 to 5,000 bottles per type. This ensures that each bottle from the Dakishvili Family Selection provides a unique tasting experience. The range is diverse, including white, rosé, amber, red, and sparkling wines, all crafted with the utmost care and precision.

In addition to the grapes from their own vineyards, the winery collaborates with a select group of local growers who provide the finest grapes. As a result, the wines not only capture the distinctive flavors of the Kakheti terroir but also reflect the experience and passion of the Dakishvili family. The pristine nature of the region, with its clean air, fertile soils, and mountainous surroundings, offers the ideal foundation for sustainable viticulture.
