Description
Winery
Château Purcari is the leading winery in Moldova. As one of the oldest wineries in the region, Château Purcari has been producing exceptional wines for centuries from grapes that thrive on ancient, fertile soils. Located in the southern part of Moldova, near the tri-border area where Moldova, Ukraine, and Transnistria meet, Château Purcari is blessed with a unique terroir. The winery draws on the rich tradition of the region, cultivating a variety of grape varieties that have been grown on these lands since the 12th century. The picturesque village of Purcari, from which Château Purcari takes its name, is home to both the winery and the vineyards of the Agon Zograf Monastery. This beautiful setting contributes to the extraordinary quality of its wines. In 1827, Château Purcari had the honor of becoming the first specialized winery in Bessarabia, thanks to recognition from Emperor Nicholas I of Russia. This prestigious status opened the doors to greatness, with wines later served to Tsar Nicholas II and King George V of England.
Under its current ownership, Château Purcari has invested in modern vinification techniques and devoted intensive care to its vineyards. The result is a range of outstanding wines that deserve recognition worldwide.
