Description
The Wine House
Dating back to 1958, Herdade do Monte da Ribeira was acquired in 1986 by the industrialist Victor Carmona e Costa, who over the next 15 years not only completely renovated the Herdade, but also implemented the entire current productive agricultural structure and wine cellar.
The first vineyard of the Herdade was planted in 1989 and the first harvest in 1992 and marketed under the Vidigueira brand. Later, the Pousio and Quatro Caminhos brands were added, and recently the Marmelar brand. In recent years, the winery has been expanded and restructured and currently covers 43 hectares. The white varieties (Alvarinho, Antão Vaz, Arinto, Roupeiro and Verdelho) occupy 1/3 of the total area of the vineyard and the red varieties (Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Baga, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Syrah, Petit Verdot, Syrah , Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira) occupy the remaining 2/3. With abundant production, the Herdade produces nearly 400,000 bottles of white, red and rosé wine.
Since its first harvest, it has received several national and international awards and accolades.
