Wine House
Discover the beautiful wines of Carpinus, a small-scale family business run by Edit and her brother Istvàn. Edit has dedicated herself to the sweet dessert wines that the Tokaj region is famous for, while Istvàn is responsible for the dry white wines that enchant the senses. Carpinus’ vineyards are strategically planted on the south and southwest slopes, where the indigenous Furmint grape thrives. The soils are richly composed of clay and volcanic rock, such as tuff andesite, dacite, and eroded loess. This unique soil composition contributes to the complexity and diversity of the wines.
Hungary has a long and rich wine history, with Tokaj being the oldest wine region in Europe. After a period of nationalization and a focus on quantity during the communist regime, Hungary has made a strong comeback. Centuries-old terroirs have been replanted, and modern winemaking techniques are being applied, thanks to investments from all around the world. These exciting developments, combined with the use of indigenous grape varieties, make Hungarian wines more captivating than ever before.
Let yourself be enchanted by the passion of Carpinus and discover the beautiful dry white wines of this exceptional family business. Taste the rich history and the pursuit of perfection in every sip.
