About the winery
In the vast Transcaucasian region, where modest Armenia finds its place, one of the world’s oldest wine-growing areas shines, steeped in historical accounts dating back to the earliest civilizations. After emerging from the Soviet era in the 1990s, favorable conditions for independent vineyards arose, and from around 2005, new and redeveloped vineyards began to garner attention. The country’s wine industry slowly but steadily re-emerged.
A notable player in this wine narrative is ArmAs Estate, founded in 2007 by Armen Aslanyan. With determination, he began replanting former vineyards in the Aragatsotn province, at the foot of the imposing Mount Ararat, at elevations ranging from 700 to 1,900 meters above sea level. This expansive estate, covering 180 hectares, is dedicated to indigenous Caucasian varieties. The passionate Italian winemaker Emilio Del Medico oversees the wine production process and has successfully embraced the idea of creating a distinctive Armenian style.
