Thousands of years ago, in the Armenian Highlands, there was a land of crystal-clear springs, dense forests, babbling streams, verdant mountains, steep gorges, and fertile plains. The neighboring peoples called this land Nairi. It was here that the Kingdom of Urartu, the direct predecessor of Armenia, was established.
