Château Purcari is the leading winery in Moldova. As one of the oldest wineries in the region, Château Purcari has been producing exceptional wines from grapes thriving on ancient, fertile soils for centuries. Located in the southern part of Moldova, near the tripoint where Moldova, Ukraine, and Transnistria meet, Chateau Purcari is blessed with a unique terroir. The winery embraces the rich tradition of the region and cultivates various grape varieties that have been growing on these lands since the twelfth century. The picturesque village of Purcari, from which Château Purcari derives its name, is home to both the winery and the vineyards of the Agon Zograf Monastery. This beautiful environment contributes to the extraordinary quality of the wines. In 1827, Château Purcari had the honor of becoming the first specialized winery in Bessarabia, thanks to the recognition of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia. This prestigious status opened the doors to greatness, with wines that were later served to Tsar Nicholas II and the English King George V.
