About the winery

Areni Viticulture LLC traces its origins to the impressive legacy of St. Jakobskellerei Schuler & Cie AG Schwyz, one of the oldest and most respected wineries in Switzerland with a rich history dating back to 1694. It’s a tale of tradition, passion, and discovery that took a remarkable turn in 2013. In that year, Mr. Jakob Schuler, the prominent mind behind the company, embarked on a captivating journey to explore the roots of viticulture. His quest led him to the majestic Caucasus, where he became enchanted by the unique wine traditions of Armenia. After numerous encounters, inspiring visits, and refined tastings in this historic land, it became evident that Armenia had carved a special place in his heart. Driven by his love for wine and respect for Armenia’s distinctive terroirs, Jakob Schuler took a bold step in 2013. He founded Areni Viticulture LLC and established a vineyard in the picturesque province of Vayots Dzor. In 2017, the company further solidified its connection with the country by acquiring two vineyards in Rind and Aghavnadzor. These vineyards are now considered the best-managed and most promising in all of Armenia.
