About the Winery
“Maran,” a winery with a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century. At that time, Aryutyun, the son of Sarkis and Maran, created a beautiful vineyard in his native village of Artabuynk, honoring his mother by naming the vineyard after her. This tribute marked the beginning of the Maranents family and laid the foundation for the thriving winery we know today as “Maran.” Armenia is renowned for its centuries-old traditions in winemaking, and “Maran” has been carrying forward these traditions since its establishment in 1991. Today, the winery is one of the top three wine producers in the legendary Vayots Dzor region, the historic heart of the Armenian wine industry. The vineyards cover a sprawling 15 hectares, where the winery cultivates grapes with dedication and craftsmanship. In 1996, “Maran” joined forces with French partners to launch a new program that combined ancient Armenian winemaking traditions with French winemaking technology. This exciting partnership has resulted in the creation of refined wines that are appreciated by experts worldwide and have won awards at prestigious wine competitions. In addition to their renowned wines, the winery expanded its product range in 2002 to include pomegranate wine. But that’s not all; they have also introduced fruity vodka called “Bark,” available in delightful flavors such as hawthorn, apricot, and cornelian cherry.
